The issue of slip on flanges has always been a topic that people pay more attention to. It is related to the production costs and economic benefits of companies and enterprises. Therefore, the sealing principle of slip on flanges is constantly being improved and perfected. However, the primary planning flaw of the flat welded flange is that it cannot ensure no leakage.

This is the lack of its planning: the connection is dynamic, and for example, thermal expansion and fluctuating periodic loads will constitute movement between the flange surfaces, affecting the function of the flange, and thus impairing the integrity of the flange. Lead to leakage. No product may be defect-free, just try to control the lack of products to the minimum, so the company tries to perfect the function of the product when producing flat welded flanges to make it work.

Features of flat welded flanges: flat welded flanges not only save space and reduce weight, but more importantly, ensure that the joints will not leak and have an outstanding sealing function. The size of the compact flange is reduced due to the reduced diameter of the seal.

This will reduce the cross-section of the sealing surface. Second, the flange gasket has been replaced by a sealing ring to ensure that the sealing surface matches the sealing surface. In this way, only a small amount of pressure is required to compress the cover tightly. As the required pressure drops, the size and number of bolts can be reduced accordingly, so after all, a new product with a small size and light weight (70% to 80% lighter than the weight of traditional flanges) has been planned. 

Therefore, the slip on flange type is a relatively high-quality flange product, which reduces the quality and space and plays an important role in industrial use. The sealing principle of the slip on flange: the two sealing surfaces of the bolt knead the flange gasket and form a seal, but this also causes the damage of the seal. In order to maintain the seal, a huge bolt force must be maintained, and for this reason, the bolt must be made larger. Larger bolts must match larger nuts, which means that larger diameter bolts are needed to create conditions for tightening the nuts. However, the larger the diameter of the bolt, the applicable flange will become bent.
