Socket weld threaded forged pipe fittings are made by forging process. The connected types can be divided to socket weld (SW), butt weld (BW) and thread (TR). They are all high pressure pipe fittings.
2.The types of socket weld threaded forged pipe fittings
There are many types of forged pipe fittings, as below:
Socket weld elbow 90 & 45 degree, socket weld tee, socket weld reducer
Socket weld full coupling/ half coupling, socket weld cap, socket weld union, sockolet, hex head/ round head/ square head plug

3.The pressure of socket weld and butt weld fittings include 3000LB (SCH80)、6000LB (SCH160)、9000 (XXS). The pressure of threaded fittings include 2000LB 、3000LB、6000LB.
4.The raw material of socket weld threaded forged pipe fittings
The commonly materials of NPT thread fittings and SW fittings refer to carbon steel, alloy steel and stainless steel.
Carbon steel: ASTM A105, A181-I, 20#, CK20 etc.
Alloy steel: ASTM A182 F5, F9, F11, F12, F22, 15CrMo, 1Cr5Mo, 16Mn, 12Cr1MoV, 10CrMo910 etc.
Stainless steel: ASTM A420 F304/304L, 316/316L, 321 etc.

Socket weld and threaded fittings are mainly used in petrochemical industry, medical and health, electric power, aerospace, military industry, fire protection, metallurgy, shipbuilding, gas, nuclear power, environmental protection and other departments and fields requiring high pressure and precise size.

The reference standards include CJ/T 321-2010 、ASME B16.11、HG/T 21634-1996、MSS SP-83、MSS SP -79 、MSS SP-97、MSS SP-95、GB/T 14383-2008、SH/T3410-96、GD2000、GD87、40T025-2005 etc.
7.The size of forged fittings
The size of forged fittings are all small, generally they are from 1/4” to 4”. If the big more size are not suitable for forged fittings.
