The specification of API 5L line pipe.
There are two specifications of line pipe, PSL 1 and PSL 2. The requirement of PSL 2 is higher than PSL 1 no matter for the chemical component, tensile property, impact test and nondestructive testing.
1.PSL 1 doesn’t have special request for impact test but PSL 2 requests average value of impact energy crosswis≥27Je, lengthways≥41J at 0℃ for all diameters of all steel grades except for X80. For steel grade X80 average value of impact energy crosswis≥68Je, lengthways≥101J at 0℃ for all diameters
2.PSL 1 doesn’t need NDT and PSL 2 requests NDT for each piece.
3.The requirements of PSL 2 are more stringent in terms of the selection of raw materials and detection methods, as well as the final production process.
The coating of API 5L line pipe.
The coating of API 5L line pipe can be black painting, PE, FBE, 2PE, 3PE, 3PP or other color painting. Because line pipe are being used for corrosive atmosphere more and more, the anti-corrosive coating as well as application popular. Recently our company exported one batch of line pipe with 3PE coating with big quantity. These line pipe will be used for gas transportation.
