The oval tube cap is composed of two parts: a half ellipsoid and a straight edge (i.e. a short cylinder) with a height of H. The Straight Edge section is used to stagger the connecting edge of the ellipsoidal shell and the cylinder with the welded joint of the pipe cap and the cylinder, to prevent the superposition of the edge stress and the thermal stress, and to avoid the abrupt change of radial curvature radius at the joint weld of the galvanized pipe cap and cylinder to improve the stress condition of weld.
